While class procedure

We do not only use adjectives, propositional phrases as attributives, we also use sentences, that is, attributive clauses.

Step 2 Presentation (10)
Task 1 for general idea of the Attributive Clauses
Use slides to present Christmas pictures with pairs of sentences to help the students find how the Attributive Clauses are formed and what functions the relative words perform:
Pair 1: subject
Santa Claus is originated in Finland
Santa Claus gives presents to children.
Santa Claus who gives presents is originated in Finland.
Pair 2: object
Children love the tree very much.
We decorate the trees beautifully
Children love the trees that we decorate beautifully.
   Pair 3: Predictive:
Santa Claus is usually this way.
Sometimes Santa Claus is in a new way.
Sometimes Santa Claus is not in the way that he usually is.
Pair 4: attribute
The children’s stockings are filled with presents.
We envy the children’s stockings.
We envy the children whose stocking as filled with presents.
Pair 5: adverbial
The chimney is a place.
Santa Claus comes down from the chimney.
The chimney is a place where Santa Claus comes down.
Inductive work:
Relative pronouns and relative adverbs are used to introduce attributive clauses, acting as subject, object, predicative, attributive and adverbial.

Step 5 Production
Work with partners and make new dialogues about Christmas.

Step 6 Consolidation
Christmas is a holiday _that/which_ people celebrate in western countries. It comes on December 25. Most families buy a Christmas tree _that/which_ they decorate with bright balls. They also have an angle or a star _which/that_ they will put at the top of the tree. People often have presents for those _whom / who / that _they know and love. On Christmas Eve children go to bed early, for they’re expecting the Santa Claus _who/that_ will come down from the chimney with presents. On Christmas morning, the children _whose_ stockings are filled with presents will be very excited.
